Introduction:

Many things in this world call for our attention, family, work, career, faith, relationships, and aspiration, desires even attacks, in the midst of all this we have to prioritise and see what really matters. What matters is what should get our most attention, what we give our attention and energy to is our passion. What consumes us is our passion. God wants us to be passionate about Him. He does not want to take the back stage in our life, rather the first stage. How then can we be passionate about God? This will be the focus in this bible study.

A. What is passion? Discuss.

B. What is Passion for God

C. King David was a passionate warrior. (2 Samuel 5:18-25, 21:15 - 22: Psalm 18:2-3, 18:30-40, 60:10) How did David express his passion for God?
What did David's passion do for him? Today, most of us are not in the military but have 1-3 jobs. What kind of passion do you find on the job? Why do you think that a passion for God appears so infrequently in the workplace?

D. Paul was passionate for God, How? Preached Act 28:31, Cared for the Church Eph 2:17, Act 20:24,31,2Cor 7;12, 11:28;Gal 4:11,Ith 3:10,Went on missionary trips: First trip-Act 13,14(with Mark ,Barnabas)Second trip ,Acts 15:36-18:22, with Silas, Third trip Acts 18:23-28;19,20,21:1-15, Worked s a tent maker(Acts 18;3,20;34), Experienced persecution and endured it: Acts 9:29, 13:50, 14;5,2Cor 4:9,11:23-33)

F. What is the starting point for being passionate for God? Act 11; 17, Heb 6:1-2. Acts 2:38-47,Acts 3:19, Prov 28;13, John 1:12 Eagerness to learn about God, Repentance, Building a solid relationship with God( John 15:1-7),being filled with the Holy Ghost (Acts 1;8,2:1-4), Developing a robust prayer life(Acts 3:1-6).

Conclusion:

What is the evidence of my passion for God? Bearing fruits of the Holy Spirit(Gal 5:22-23), being hospitable(Acts 9:36,39), preaching the gospel at every opportunity where there are human beings(John 4:7,Matt 28:18-20,Mark 15:15-18), having a good report in the society Phil 4:8, giving and supporting the work of God and people of God(Rom 15:27,Lk 6:38,) being faithful to God in tithe and offering(Mal 3:8), faithfulness to your family( Eph 5:22-31),being involved in the church as a worker ( chorister, usher, ,janitorial services, band, accounts, welfare, evangelism,administration) and having compassion on the people particularly people of the household of God and the needy(orphans, single parents, aged, destitute). May God help you to be passionate for God through having compassion on human beings! Amen.
